Sea Monster was established in 2011 by Glenn Gillis and Wynand ‘Munki’ Groenewald following their time working together at Clockwork Zoo, the largest animation studio in South Africa. The company was founded on a mission to create engaging games and immersive experiences that can be used by companies and public benefit organisations to communicate complex concepts, change attitudes and drive behavioural change amongst global audiences.


With many industry firsts on the African continent. Glenn, Munki and the Sea Monster team have delivered over 150 games as well as App, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) solutions, all carefully crafted to drive business goals and social outcomes.


The Sea Monster team is a vibrant crew of passionate individuals who all strongly believe in the power of games. Sea Monster has an experienced and skilled team of over 38 full time staff and a network of specialist suppliers and partners. Together we deliver world class creative and production services, offering unique insight into working in culturally diverse markets. 

As a company, we are very proud to be 51% black owned, and made up of  63% female employees.

Glenn Gillis

Glenn is the co-founder and CEO of Sea Monster, and the chairperson of Games for Change Africa. He is an expert on the role that technology plays in storytelling, and is a seasoned entrepreneur with 25 years of experience as a senior executive and consultant in the local creative industries.

Wynand “Munki” Groenewald

Co-Founder and Creative Director of Sea Monster, Munki combines his life-long passion for psychology and technology with his skills and experience in creating animation and impact games. He is a master at unpacking wicked problems and building comprehensive solutions that drive business goals.

Lebo Lekoma

Lebo is our head of client services at Sea Monster. With more than 20 years of experience working with clients, Lebo is consistently promoting the Sea Monster brand. He is able to understand and translate the needs of clients whilst simultaneously balancing the needs of Sea Monster.

Jade Duckitt

Jade serves as Creative Director and Games Designer at Sea Monster. With decisiveness and passion, Jade leads the creative endeavours of Sea Monster and has steered Sea Monster's most recent explorations of the applications of VR and the Metaverse in healthcare as well as financial wellness.
