With the objective of offering their whiskey loving customers a new digital brand experience that could be shared with friends at anytime, Pernod Ricard approached Sea Monster to develop an interactive virtual whiskey tour.

Challenge

Pernod Ricard is as well known for delivering premium customer experiences as it is for the discerning alcohol brands that the company represents.

With the objective of offering their whiskey loving customers a new digital brand experience that could be shared with friends at anytime, Pernod Ricard approached Sea Monster to develop an interactive virtual whiskey tour.

Setting out to give brand enthusiasts, a first of its kind, augmented reality experience of a live whiskey tasting and a virtual tour of the whiskey making process, we developed a mobile app that users could download from their preferred app store.

Through the use of augmented reality the mobile app allows users to place glasses of different vintages from their favourite whiskey brand on a virtual tasting mat to be scanned for a live guide. The unique virtual tour shows users the process of how the whiskey was made, from grain to glass. Followed by information about the tasting notes so that users can fully appreciate the aromas and flavours of the different blends they are actually drinking.

Designed for shared enjoyment, the result is a mixed reality brand experience that is both innovative, informative and social.

The Pernod Ricard augmented reality whiskey tasting app is available for Chivas Regal, Jamesons, Ballantines and The Glenlivet.
